Introducing the New Format Preschool Coloring Books

Children Desiring God Blog // Introducing the New Format Preschool Student Coloring Books

Many of you have asked for a less expensive and less bulky option for the Student Coloring Books in the He Established A Testimony and He Has Spoken By His Son preschool curricula. Our New Format Student Coloring Book answers both of these concerns. The Original Student Coloring Books include a copy of the Parent Resource Page next to each coloring page. The New Format Student Coloring Books have removed these Parent Resource Pages since they are already included in the Teacher’s Kit 3-ring notebook and Resources CD for churches to email to or print and send home with parents. The resulting New Format Student Coloring Books are much leaner – they are less expensive, lighter weight and thinner for those who store the books in the classroom during the week, and remain excellent resources for both classroom and home use.

The New Format Student Coloring Books are now available! We expect that most customers will be excited about the change but recognize that others may have some of the Original Student Coloring Books on hand. These users may want to order additional copies of the Original Students Coloring Books so that all children in a class have the same version. The Original Students Coloring Books will be available through the end of 2018. Users of electronic Student Coloring Books will be able to choose between the Original Student Coloring Book and the New Format. (more…)

NOW AVAILABLE: Two New Booklets for Parents

Children Desiring God Blog // New Booklets for Parents

Children Desiring God is excited to announce the release of two, brand new booklets for parents, pastors, and those involved in ministry to children.

Children and the Worship Service

Children and the Worship Service, My Church NotebookJesus is opening His arms and inviting children to come to Him. One of the ways we reflect this truth to our children is by welcoming them into the most central, most regular, most valuable, and most corporate activity of the church. When we encourage families to worship together, we communicate to the children that they are a part of the congregation and, as such, should be included when the church gathers to worship. The presence of children also serves as a reminder to the church of its responsibility to nurture the faith of the next generation.

NOW AVAILABLE: To Be Like Jesus

Children Desiring God Blog // To Be Like Jesus Curriculum

“What do you want to be when you grow up?” is a common question asked of children and young people. Yet as interesting and insightful as their answers may be, this question pales in comparison to a more distinct and crucial one addressed in the Westminster Larger Catechism:

Q. 1. What is the chief and highest end of man?
A. Man’s chief and highest end is to glorify God, and fully to enjoy him forever.

This question and answer defines our being, identity, and purpose: Godward. It fundamentally grounds us in what is unique about us—that we have been created to reflect and image forth the awesome majesty and worth of our Creator. And, in that imaging forth, we are to pursue the highest purpose: glorifying God! We glorify God by giving Him the honor, respect, love, devotion, obedience, and worship He so rightly deserves.

TO BE LIKE JESUS: Download Free 5 Lesson Sample & Preorder Today

What is salvation? How does someone become a Christian? What does it mean to become like Jesus? To Be Like Jesus, the newest revised Sunday school curriculum from Children Desiring God will help 3rd- to 5th-grade students answer these crucial questions as they learn how to follow Jesus. The curriculum will be released in late September, but do not miss the two special offers below!

The study begins with an explanation of nine elements of the Gospel message, its purpose and its promise. Then, the second half of To Be Like Jesus focuses on the doctrine of sanctification—the process by which a Christian becomes more and more conformed to the likeness of Jesus. Students will study 19 ways they can love God most and become more like him such as worshiping God, being merciful, rejoicing in persecution, being a humble servant and serving God with your abilities. Navigating the Changes in the Nursery Curriculum

Children Desiring God Blog // Navigating the Changes in the Nursery Curriculum

There are some wonderful updates in the newly revised A Sure Foundation nursery curriculum, but some of our customers have had questions about what to order from among the various resources offered. See this blog post for specific information on how we have refreshed and expanded our nursery curriculum.

Some of our customers have asked what they should order to add to their current resources. Many appreciate the new format (with thumbnails of visuals and actions clearly marked in each lesson) and choose to replace their original leader’s editions with the updated Teacher’s Guides. Others decide to continue using the original leader’s editions and just want to add the new material. We have created a “Nursery Coordinator’s Volume 2 Supplement” to make this an easier option. The Nursery Coordinator’s Volume 2 Supplement contains:

  • 1 Older Toddler Volume 2 Teacher’s Guide (with the 16 additional lessons)
  • 1 Nursery Coordinator’s Brochure
  • 1 updated Curriculum Resources DVD, including the following PDFs:
    • Coloring Pages
    • Growing in Faith Together: Parent and Child Resource Pages
    • The Resource Packet
    • Truth Statement Posters
    • Story Pictures (for Young Toddler, and both Older Toddler Volumes 1 and 2)
    • The curriculum logo
    • A training video
    • Other teaching materials

The new 16 lessons in the Older Toddler Volume 2 can be used in a variety of ways. It was designed for toddlers 36 months and older who have not yet graduated to a preschool class. If you do not have a separate older toddler classroom, or do not need additional lessons for your Sunday nurseries, Volume 2 can be used for older toddlers as a midweek curriculum, for childcare during a women’s Bible study or small group time, or during VBS.

Another new item is the “Starter Kit” for those just beginning to use our nursery curriculum. This is a great option for those who want to use each of the refreshed Teacher’s Guides and the new visuals on the Resources DVD, and for those who prefer curriculum using the English Standard Version (ESV) translation of the Bible.

As always, if you need help deciding what to order, please contact our customer service team at 1.877.400.1414 or info@childrendesiringGod.org. Also, you should know that some past purchases may qualify for discounts, so please ask us about these options.

Introducing a NEW Resource for Families: My Church Notebook

INTRODUCING

My Church Notebook

My Church NotebookChurch services give us the opportunity to come into the presence of God with other people of God, both young and old. As children observe the example of their parents and join believers in worship, they learn to concentrate on God and see His greatness.

Children are more likely to cherish and delight in the worship of God if they witness that heart for worship in the church. When they see their parents and other adults bow their heads in earnest prayer, or lift their hands in praise, the genuine worship they observe can stir their hearts to worship. Children can observe parents listening intently to the sermon, taking notes, and processing the truth they are hearing. They observe this hunger for the Word of God which can stir the same longing in their own hearts.

My Church NotebookMy Church Notebook will guide your elementary aged children to participate in the service. It teaches them to actively listen to the sermon, take notes, recognize key points, and ask questions. In response to what they hear, children can determine what God wants them to think, be, or do. With God’s help, children can discover who He is, understand more of His Word, and grow in their love for the truth.

My Church Notebook helps children to concentrate on God as they come into His presence.
