Promise Items Are Now Available!

Promise Items Now Available

The Promise Buttons and Promise Iron-On Transfers, to accompany the Faithful to All His Promises curriculum, are in stock. Thank you for your patience in waiting for these items.

These Promise Items are part of a powerful illustration that helps children learn to trust in a promise made by their teacher, just as they have to learn to trust in the promises made by God. At the beginning of the class, the teacher will promise to give each student a Promise Item. Some will receive it within a week or two…other children will have to wait 40 weeks. Each child must trust that the teacher will honor their promise to give them a Promise Item as they learn to see the character traits of a trust-worthy promise-keeper. Through this illustration, children will discover and be reminded that “God always keeps His promises.”

Our classic button has been updated with a new look and several additional options for Promises Items have been added. To teach Faithful to All His Promises, you will need one Promise Item for each student and teacher in the class. You may choose from:

Promise ButtonsPromise Buttons

The Promise Button is a 2.5 inch, pin-back metal button. Children can wear it to class, attach it to a backpack or pin the button up in their room. Promise Buttons are available in sets of 8.

Promise TransfersPromise Transfer

The Promise Transfer is a 4×4.5 inch iron-on transfer. It can easily be applied to a t-shirt, sweat shirt, tote bag, banner, flag or any other fabric item that is not tightly woven (such as nylon). Promise Transfers are available in sets of 8.

The Promise Item Graphic is included on the Resources DVD in the Classroom Kit as JPEG, EPS and PNG files. This enables you to create a promise item customized for your class. An Inside Look at Application – Faithful to All His Promises, Revised

Children Desiring God Blog // An Inside Look at Application: Faithful to All His Promises Revised

When teaching Sunday school, there are two main pillars to the class time: teaching and application.

Application is an essential step to apply truths from the Bible lesson to a child’s everyday life. The Small Group Application section of each lesson provides small group leaders with specific questions to discuss with the children in their group. These questions help children understand and clarify what they heard in the lesson and lead them towards three responses:

  • The Head: What the children know and understand.
  • The Heart: What the children feel, such as emotions, desires and convictions.
  • The Hands: What action the children will take, such as a response, commitment, etc.

One of the major updates we made to the revised version of Faithful to All His Promises, was to rework the application section. The questions were expanded and finessed to equip small group leaders with material that is age appropriate, integrated with workbook activities and targeted towards the heart. Here is a sample application section from Faithful to All His Promises, along with the matching workbook pages so you can take a look inside the curriculum and see the changes!

Children Desiring God Blog // Now Available: Faithful to All His Promises, Revised

It’s finally here!

After over a year of hard work from the entire Children Desiring God team, we are excited to announce that Faithful to All His Promises, Revised, is officially released!

If you are new to this curriculum, Faithful to All His Promises is a Sunday school curriculum targeted toward 2nd grade children that helps them learn what God has promised believers and unbelievers and teaches them to trust God to always keep His promises. We do not deserve these promises, but they are priceless gifts God has given us.

Our prayer is that when children find themselves experiencing troubles—both everyday battles of faith and the very hard battles of life—they will turn to the promises of God and trust that He is working to fulfill His precious promises.

If you have been teaching Faithful to All His Promises already, you will love the enhancements we have made to the curriculum.

Here are a couple of our favorite updates to the revised curriculum: (more…)

The Story behind Jesus is Most Special

prpbooks-images-covers-md-9781629950297

In the heart of every Christian grandmother is the desire that her grandchildren know Jesus as their Savior. This was my heart desire seven years ago when I wrote the text to Jesus is Most Special. It didn’t start out as text for a children’s book about the birth of Christ. It was simply the expression of one grandmother’s heart that her granddaughter would know of God’s love in sending the Savior.

At the time, my elder daughter, Amy, and her husband, Gary, were living in St. John’s, Newfoundland with my eldest grandchild, Anna, who was then three years old. As I thought about the miles between us and pondered how I could nurture a spiritual interest and understanding in Anna’s heart, the Lord put it in my heart to tell Anna the Christmas story via the written word. I had no pictures to send her, so I suggested that Amy and Gary use a nativity set in telling the story. (more…)

Now available for Android & iPhone: The Growing in Faith Together App

Children Desiring God Blog // Now Available for Android & iPhone: The Growing in Faith Together AppAs Sunday School is starting this fall, Children Desiring God is excited to offer a new resource to help parents and churches partner together and extend learned beyond the classroom. Our new Growing in Faith Together App is now available for both iPhone and Android!

Growing in Faith Together: Parent and Child Resource Pages (GIFT Pages) have been created to help parents interact with their children about the spiritual truths taught in Sunday school. (In our original curriculum, these have been known as Parent Pages or Take-Home Pages.) These GIFT Pages, which correlate with our elementary curriculum, provide parents a summary of what children are taught in class, discussions questions to help lead children to a heart response and an activity suggestion to reinforce the lesson themes or memory verse.

The GIFT App is a great tool for weekly discussions at home or on the go and keeping your children caught up if they are sick or traveling and miss Sunday School. GIFT Pages can also be used as a discipleship or devotional tool for parents even if their children are not currently studying a Children Desiring God curriculum.

Children Desiring God is excited to announce the release of the revised version of How Majestic Is Your Name. This 40-week Sunday school curriculum is designed to reveal the character of God to 5th grade students through the study of His names. We have been working hard to improve the ways in which our curriculum equips teachers, engages students and impacts families:

  • Updated lessons provide teachers with devotionals and prayer points, incorporate more teacher-student interaction, maintain a consistent length and are formatted in a cleaner layout that is easier to teach from.
  • Lessons have been tailored specifically for 5th grade students and three new lessons have been added.
  • New and expanded application questions help small group leaders guide students to apply truths taught in the lesson to their hearts. Questions complement the Student Notebook which has been redesigned to be more interactive for children.
  • The Student Notebook includes a note taking section for students to complete during the lesson, age-appropriate activities and application questions.
  • Original, full-color visuals capture the attention of students and reinforce important truths of the lessons.
  • Growing in Faith Together: Parent and Child Resource Pages prompt spiritual conversations and help parents fulfill the calling to shepherd their children. GIFT pages are now available as as a PDF file in the Classroom kit to print or email and as a spiral bound booklet. How Majestic Is Your Name GIFT pages will also be available in our new app for iPhone and Android soon.

Children Desiring God is excited to announce the launch of the Growing in Faith Together App for iPhone, iPad and iPad Mini. The partnership between churches and parents is one of the key elements of a purposeful children’s ministry. Each of our revised, elementary Sunday School curricula feature Growing in Faith Together: Parent and Child Resource Pages (GIFT Pages) to help parents interact with their children about spiritual truths taught in Sunday School. These GIFT Pages provide parents a summary of what children are taught in class, discussion questions to help lead children to a heart response and an activity suggestion to reinforce the lesson themes or memory verse. As you diligently interact with your child about these truths in daily life, you may see your child grow in spiritual understanding and faith.

In the past, GIFT Pages (or take-home pages) were only available in the Classroom Kit to print for or email to parents. Now, with the revised curriculum project, GIFT Pages are also available in a bound booklet and the brand new GIFT App!

Now Available: God’s Wisdom + Giveaway

God's Wisdom Cover_blogEvery day children are confronted with the call of wisdom and the call of foolishness. Which call will they answer?

God’s Wisdom, a newly released book by Sally Michael, uses the words of Proverbs to explore these two paths. As parents guide their children through this book, they will discover the joys of wisdom and discern the destruction of foolishness.

Each person starts out on the path of foolishness because we are born with foolishness in our hearts. Only God can incline a child’s heart toward the path of wisdom—and he can use your example and diligent instruction to do it.

Sally Michael seamlessly weaves New Testament and Old Testament stories together to teach biblical wisdom in a way that is clear, fun, and engaging for children. Her compelling word pictures and analogies make difficult concepts easier to grasp.
—Marty Machowski, Pastor, Author of Long Story Short and The Gospel Story Bible

Once again, Sally Michael has used her fervent love for Christ and her keen understanding of the Scriptures to help parents and children. . . . I’m very excited to put this book into the hands of parents.
—Deepak Reju, Associate Pastor, Capitol Hill Baptist Church, Washington, D.C.

God’s Wisdom is a full-color, illustrated book that includes 26 chapters with application questions and activity suggestions. The stories are written to elementary aged children. This is the fourth book in the Making Him Known series, which also includes God’s Names, God’s Promises, and God’s Wisdom.

To learn more about God’s Wisdom, read the first chapter or take a look at the table of contents. If you want to help children find the path of wisdom, order a copy now.
