Recently we said goodbye to our longtime customer service representative, Jim. You might be wondering, “Who is going to help me order curriculum?” Never fear! We are very pleased to introduce you to the newest members of our customer service team, Holly and Annie.
Holly is not exactly a “new” member on our team as she has spent the past year working with, and learning from, our aforementioned customer service representative. She has used Children Desiring God curriculum in the classroom for 17 years, first as a pilot teacher of our preschool curriculum. In addition to teaching, Holly has served as a team leader and a small group leader.
Seeing the impact of Bible teaching on numerous students and adults, and on her own family as well, has deepened her desire to see Christ magnified through God-centered resources for churches, parents and children. Holly finds it a joy to assist and interact with our customers.
The other half of this dynamic duo is Annie. She is originally from El Salvador, and was introduced to the curriculum when she was asked to translate The ABCs of God and How Majestic is Your Name into Spanish. She was amazed at the deep, God-centered content of the curricula and found herself challenged, taught, and encouraged by the truths presented in them, even as she translated!
Through teaching the curriculum at her church, she saw firsthand the response of the children’s hearts to the glorious character of God reflected in His names. As she later observed, “I knew this had nothing to do with my teaching: this was the result of the revelation of the nature and character of God Himself to the hearts of my students… I was overjoyed!”
Later the Lord opened the door for Annie to serve as a part-time Spanish translator, editor, and interpreter with Children Desiring God, which facilitated the launch of our Spanish curriculum, resources and website in 2009.
In April 2012, Annie married her wonderful, godly, loving husband and moved from El Salvador to North Carolina. She then joined our staff full-time as a Translation and Customer Care Specialist. Annie says:
I cannot begin to describe the joy it brings me to talk to our customers! I have the pleasure of giving them advice on how to implement the curriculum materials, offering tips on curriculum sequence and classroom management, placing orders, responding to emails, etc. The Lord has allowed me to have experience as a teacher, and also to interact with the material as a translator, both of which are of great help as I serve our customers. I hope to continue learning and growing in my service to God’s kingdom and His people!
